Operating Deflection Shapes (ODS) analysis is the best way to visualize how a product is deflecting under real life operating conditions. Not to be confused with modal analysis techniques which evaluates the inherent natural resonance characteristics of a product, ODS is a very powerful tool that can solve problems related to forced vibrations by measuring and presenting the structure deformation shapes under actual operating conditions of load, speed, temperature, etc. Since forced vibrations are part of all rotating machinery, ODS analysis is very popular with people who make engines, motors, gearboxes, turbines, compressors and other rotating components.
Learn more about ODS analysis, the different ODS techniques (frequency, time and rpm-based) and how it can be used to reduce vibration levels in your product.
